I am not a leadership theorist. I have been where you are.
I built a business from nothing. Just me, for [15/20] years. Grew it to a team of 25 at peak, 35+ over its life. Thirteen completed apprenticeships. Eighty-five percent of everyone who worked for me went on to run their own successful businesses. I 've carried the weight of other people's livelihoods. Figured it out as I went.
I did all of that while competing at an elite level in touch football, and while carrying grief and personal crises that never once showed up at work. From the outside, everything looked fine. It wasn't always. Showing up as though everything is fine takes a toll, even when the business is genuinely thriving. I know that first-hand.
I've founded and run multiple companies: an import retail business, my own product brand, and more. Today I co-own a TGA-listed product, hold a partnership stake in a salon, work as an EAP clinician and coach, and run my own Airbnb.
I've invested tens of thousands into my own leadership development, because a business only ever grows as far as I do.
What I know now, from the inside, not from a textbook: the thing most business owners are missing isn't another strategy. It is somewhere to think. Somewhere to process the weight they are carrying. Somewhere to be challenged and supported by someone who has actually sat where they are.
I trained as a coach, then as a psychotherapist because I kept seeing the same thing in business owners that I had felt myself. The isolation. The pressure. The unprocessed weight sitting underneath every decision.
